The Global Tobacco Industry Interference Index shows how well governments are protecting public health policies from industry meddling.

The industry works relentlessly to delay and defeat tobacco control efforts around the world so that it can protect its profits. Though there is some progress, this second annual report reveals that certain areas of interference remain problems across the globe.

This factsheet developed by the African Tobacco Control Alliance (ATCA) in collaboration with the African Centre for Tobacco Industry Monitoring and Policy Research (ATIM) highlights the performance of the nine African countries that were involved in the survey.
