ATCA 2022 Media Award: The Winners

In March 2022, the ATCA Tobacco Control Media Award was launched in a virtual come together that brought together media professionals and other tobacco control stakeholders to exchange ideas and experiences on the vital role that journalists play in tobacco control.

The award, a yearly initiative organized to motivate journalists to generate compelling tobacco control media productions, aims to expose tobacco industry initiatives to undermine implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC).

A total of 43 entries were received for the competition and a panel of four judges scored the entries using an online platform developed by ATCA.

The winners of the 2022 ATCA Media Award will each receive 1,000 USD to support the purchase of a laptop, and a cash incentive of 500 USD. They are:

  1. Agoutsi Komlan Dimitry from Satelite Info in Cote d’Ivoire.
  2. Aloo Herald from The Africa Report in Kenya.
  3. Yande Diop from Seneweb in Senegal.
  4. Mawerere Sarah from the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation.

Congratulations to them.
