Burkina Faso has a tax policy for tobacco products but this is not aligned with recommendations of the World Health Organisaton (WHO).
Decree N°2011- 1052 PRES_PM_MS_MEF of 30 December 2011 bans smoking in closed public spaces and public transport services in Burkina Faso.
Burkina Faso does not have a toll-free telephone smoking quit line/help line. Smoking cessation support is available in some communities.
Burkina Faso requires graphic health warnings covering 60% front and back of cigarettes. Rotation of these messages is required.

Burkina Faso has specific government objectives for tobacco control as well as a national tobacco control technical unit or agency.
Most forms of tobacco advertising are banned in Burkina Faso. Partial restrictions do exist on tobacco promotion and sponsorship
