Ethiopia’s tax policy for tobacco products is not aligned with recommendations of the World Health Organisaton (WHO).
Ethiopia has a law requiring 100% smoke-free policies in most public places. Sub-national jurisdictions are permitted to enact even more stringent laws.
Ethiopia does not have a toll-free smoking quit line/help line. Smoking cessation support is available in some parts of the country.
Beginning February 5, 2020, rotating picture health warnings covering at least 70% of the front and back of tobacco product packaging will be required in Ethiopia.
