Zambia: Cabinet approves tobacco control bill paving way for its debate in parliament.

Stakeholders in Zambia have recorded a major victory in their efforts to get a strong tobacco control law passed.

The draft tobacco control bill which had been stalled due to complaints from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Commerce, has now been approved by the cabinet.

This approval paves the way for the bill to be forwarded to parliament where it would be debated and eventually adopted.

When that happens, it will be forwarded to the President who will then sign it, rendering it an official law in the country.
